Demolition & Hacking

We strip the bathroom back to the structural walls and floor. Old tiles are hacked off, existing plumbing fittings are removed, and the substrate is assessed for cracks, uneven surfaces, and moisture damage before any new work begins. We do not tile over problems. We fix the substrate first.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is applied to the floor and walls (minimum 300mm above floor level, higher in shower areas) before any tiles are laid. We use membrane-type waterproofing products appropriate for the substrate condition and apply them to the correct thickness with full floor and wall coverage.

The waterproofing membrane is tested with a 24-hour water retention test before tiling begins. This is our standard process on every bathroom renovation.

Floor Screeding & Levelling

Old bathroom floors are often uneven, have low spots that pool water, or have incorrect falls towards the floor drain. We re-screed the floor with the correct gradient, the floor should drain completely within a short time of water contact, not pool in corners.

Wall & Floor Tiling

We lay tiles using the correct adhesive for the substrate and tile type, grout the joints with epoxy grout in wet areas (which lasts significantly longer than cement grout), and seal all grout lines in wet areas. We advise on tile selection honestly, large-format tiles look better but require more careful floor preparation.

Water Heater Installation

Instant water heater replacement or new installation as part of the bathroom renovation. We size the unit correctly for the bathroom configuration, install with the correct electrical circuit isolation, and position it for safe and practical access to the controls.

Bathroom Fixtures, Fittings & Vanity

Toilet bowl, vanity unit or wall-mounted basin, shower screen or bath enclosure, mirror cabinet, towel rails, toilet paper holders, shower head and hose, and all associated fittings. Supply and install or install only depending on whether you have sourced your own fittings.

Glass Shower Screen & Enclosure

We install frameless and semi-frameless tempered glass shower screens, ensure the glass is correctly bonded and sealed at wall and floor junctions, and use the correct hardware for long-term reliability. Poorly sealed shower screens are a common source of bathroom water damage in condos, we take this detail seriously.
