Chemical wash and chemical overhaul are two different jobs
The JB market uses both words and the difference is real, so here it is in plain terms.
Chemical wash: RM 120* a unit on three or more, RM 180 for a single
The front body and filters come off. The coil and blower wheel are treated with chemical solution in place on the wall, high-pressure rinsed into a wash bag, the drain pan cleaned and treated, and the unit reassembled and test run. This is the right job for most units at the 12 to 24 month mark. In JB this job is also called chemical cleaning.
Chemical overhaul: RM 250 a unit, RM 290 at 2.0 to 2.5 HP
The whole indoor unit comes off the wall and is stripped: casing, blower wheel and coil separated and cleaned individually, drain pan removed and washed, then reassembled and refitted. This is what a unit needs when it has gone years without attention, when there is visible mould through the vents, or when a wash was done last year and the smell came back within weeks.

How much is an aircond chemical service in JB?

What does an aircond chemical wash remove?
An aircond chemical wash removes the biofilm and mould on the evaporator coil fins, the black build-up packed into the blower wheel blades, the sludge in the drain pan causing the smell, and the fouling between the fins a normal service cannot reach. In JB humidity that growth is faster than most people expect, and it is not dirt in the ordinary sense: it is biological growth living in a permanently damp, dark, cold box.
Two things a wash will not do: add cooling capacity to a unit low on refrigerant, or fix a mechanical fault. Every 12 to 24 months on heavy use in this climate, every 2 to 3 years on light use. Earlier if there is visible mould or the smell returns quickly after a normal service. A hazy spell can bring it forward: a unit running all night with the windows shut pulls that air across the filter and the coil for eight hours at a stretch, and if the room smells stale within a day of a normal service afterwards, the coil is holding what the filter did not catch. That needs a wash, not another clean.
Is the RM 99 aircond service a chemical wash?
No. RM 99 buys a normal service at 1.0 to 1.5 HP, about 60 minutes with the unit largely assembled. A chemical wash takes the front body off and treats the coil and blower wheel with chemical solution, 90 to 120 minutes a unit, at RM 120 a unit on three or more or from RM 180 for a single. Will a chemical wash make my aircond cold again?
If the cause was a fouled coil restricting airflow, yes, noticeably. If the unit is low on refrigerant or has a failed part, no, and we will have told you that before you booked.
Does a chemical wash make a mess indoors?
The coil is rinsed into a wash bag, and we bring the wash bag and sheeting for the area around the unit. Clear the space around the unit before we arrive; we cover the rest.
Do I need to be home for the wash?
Someone needs to let us in and be there at the end to see the unit run.
Can I wash my aircond myself?
You can wash the filters yourself, and we wash them at every normal service too.
